The World’s Toughest Rodeo Returns To St. Paul Minnesota With Stars Shining Brightly

February 2, 2014 By Jason Hetland

Years ago Tommy Jo Lucia had a dream of starting up a rodeo company to travel the country with.  Many years later with the World’s Toughest Rodeo still going strong is dream continues to be a reality.  Each year when the event comes to St. Paul Minnesota for its two day event it seems to come with more and more star power.  This stardom is not only in the arena but the country music artists that are associated with the huge event here at the Excel Energy Center are equally as impressive.

Some of the biggest names within the sport of professional rodeo have made their way to the World’s Toughest Rodeo throughout the years.  Bee Jay Scott, Wade Sundell, Matt Pojanowski and Anthony Lucia are just a few that have graced us with their presence over the years and this year was no different.  Just this year there was a reality show geared toward the rodeo lifestyle on A&E Network called “Rodeo Girls” and two of its stars were in town for this year’s two day event.  Rodeo announcer, trick roper and reality star Anthony Lucia was calling the action with his beautiful girlfriend Jessica Holmberg by his side.  The two met while filming the hit reality show in its first season.  Jessica was also featured on the show as a barrel racer trying to fill her permit to be a full fledged card holder within the PRCA and WPRA.

Along with all the celebrities and top ranked contestants that were in attendance nothing could compare to the excitement that surrounded on cowboy that made his return to St. Paul.  Whiplash the Cowboy Monkey and Boogie ventured back to the cold tundra much to the delight of the thousands in attendance.  Along with all the great names of rodeo that were showcased here this weekend it was all closed out with a great concert that was included in each fan’s ticket for Saturday night’ s performance.  Once the action was finished in the arena the lights went down and Nashville recording artist Jon Pardi kept the audience energized and left them all wanting more and looking forward to next year!

This year was truly one that each and every fan inside the Excel Energy Center will never forget and all of us here at the Rodeo Round Up look forward to seeing this great event continue to come back for years to come!
