Tonight was a night that would make history as the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series invaded the new state of the art T-Mobile Arena, the new home for the PBR World Finals.  As the fans started piling in the excitement level was felt from every nook and cranny in anticipation for the beginning of the round one opening ceremonies.  Along with the pomp and circumstance there was a new feel to the arena as well as the new design proved to be something spectacular!

The moment that that music began to rise to signify the opening ceremonies the buzz started to feel the air as the introductions moved closer to reality for the sold out crowd.  The bull riders were full of energy and could not wait for everything to begin so they could prove themselves inside of the newly formed arena.  There were questions and speculation as to how the new design would work but once the action began we would all find out for ourselves how it would all play out in the end.

Tonight is usually the night that the top 35 bull riders in the world have the easiest of the five days of competition here in Las Vegas.  That being said, round one generally begins with the American Bucking Bull Inc. (ABBI) bulls which was the same for tonight.  As the years go by every bovine athlete gets stronger and stronger and round one is not as easy as it has been in the past.  Throughout the 2016 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough season these buckers have given each and every one of these cowboys all that they could handle and tonight was no different.

In this first round of competition there were many match-ups that began to raise some eyebrows and bring the crowd to the edge of their seats.  One of those would be the match-up of Kaique Pacheco Vs. Organized Crime as the two number ones in the world go head to head for the sake of bragging rights.  Organized Crime leads the ABBI’s world standings and would be tested to the end with Pacheco aboard his back side.  Once the fury was over it would be Pacheco who would come out on top with an 84.25 point bull ride!

Tonight’s action lived up to all the hype that was generated around town as the PBR made its way to the new home of the World Finals at the T-Mobile Arena.  Tonight from the opening ceremonies to the last buck out was full of excitement and drama as the world title race is as close as it has ever been in the history of the organization.  The ABBI classic bulls came to town to make a statement and after tonight that statement was going to be heard loud and clear.

As the top 35 bull riders in the world began to take their turns one by one it seemed as if the mindset of both factions, the cowboys and the bucking bulls, was laser focused as the action began.  After the round was concluded it would be a total of 12 of those competing that would manage to make a qualified ride and bring a score into tomorrow night’s second round of competition.  That being said, it would be Chase Outlaw who would claim the top spot and take home the round one victory and the world championship points that came with it!  See what he had to say about his round win in the inside interview I was able to get with him following the performance tonight.

Once the bull riding action concluded it was time to open up the gates as the PBR let the party officially begin.  As advertised George Thorogood and the Destroyers took over the T-Mobile Arena for an epic post performance concert on the arena floor.  Reigning and defending PBR World Champion even joined in the fun as he took the stage to partake in a little sing along to his riding song “Bad To The Bone”.  All in all it was a great first night on our new home for many future years to come!

If tonight’s musical guest was not enough for you the PBR has brought to town some of the most iconic names in the music industry from many different genres to perform at the World Finals.  The acts that many fans are dying to see this week include Dustin Lynch, Colt Ford, Lita Ford and Rick Springfield to name just a few.  Headlining the 2016 PBR World Finals music talent is former front man of Aerosmith Steven Tyler who’s song was chosen to be the official theme song for the 2016 PBR Built Ford Tough Series season!

While we all look ahead to tomorow’s amazing round two performance I would like to slow down and take a look back at the history that was made inside of the T-Mobile Arena tonight.  For the first time ever the Professional Bull Riders bought their World Finals across town from the Thomas & Mack Center.  I have a feeling after a action packed performance that the PBR World Finals will be at the T-Mobile Arena for many more years to come!
