The fourth round of the 2015 Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo started off with a bang tonight as musical star power took center stage to kick off the action inside of the Thomas & Mack Arena.  The night kicked off with an amazing prayer followed by a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem sung by the Venetian’s “Rock of Ages” singer Becca Kotte.  The excitement was in the air as red dirt country music superstar Aaron Watson performed to set the stage for the evening.  Everyone could feel the anticipation starting to come to a head as the grand entry and hat tipping to the crowd rounded out the opening ceremonies for the start of the fourth round!

Rusty Wright Wins Rd 4 On Sundance

Tonight’s exclusive coverage focuses in on the classic professional rodeo event of saddle bronc riding as these cowboys made the most of being thrust into the Rodeo Round Up spotlight!  The horses were giving the cowboys all that they could handle tonight as each round wears more and more on each of the contestants.  Anyone that was watching could clearly see that the first three rounds have started to cause aches and pains on most of the cowboys in this event.  After it was all said and done it was Rusty Wright who claimed victory with a 85.50 point ride aboard Flying Five Rodeo’s Sundance.

Jason was able to catch up with Rusty immediately following his fourth round win here at the 57th Annual Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.  See what he had to say about the mental capacity that it takes to throw the aches and pains out the window each night to focus on the task at hand and how these cowboys deal with their injuries throughout the entire 10-day run.  Find out everything he had to say before he headed to walk across the South Point Hotel and Casino stage to receive his fourth round championship buckle in the video below!

Although our coverage tonight focused on the saddle bronc riding event for the fourth round there were six other events that brought winners to the arena floor as well.  In the bareback riding it was Steven Peebles and Kaycee Feild who split the round win with 84 point rides while the big Nevada boy Dakota Eldridge topped all other competitors in the steer wrestling event with a 3.3 second run.  In the team roping it was Derrick Begay and Clay O’Brien Cooper who worked like a well oiled machine to take home a go round win with a time of 3.6 seconds to put up the fastest run of the four rounds so far and in the tie-down roping it was 7.2 second runs by Cade Swor and Sterling Smith that split the top spots in that event.  In the barrel racing it was Sarah Rose McDonald who left the cans standing and raced to the top time of 13.71 seconds which would be the fastest run of the WNFR thus far. The action ended with the fan favorite sport of bull riding with Joe frost outlasting all others with a 85.50 point ride aboard Andrews Rodeo’s Bell Ringer.
