Round 3 of the 2015 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series World Finals gave the contestants a bit of a break tonight, if that is even possible, as the bulls were deemed the “ride pen” around the arena.  Tonight started off as Sierra Black sang a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem and Blaine Shivers carried the American flag which gave the crowd the energy they needed to cheer on their favorite riders throughout the entire night.  Once the introductions were complete and the lights were brought up the action inside the arena finally gave the fans the rides they have been waiting for throughout the first two rounds.

2015 Rookie Of The Year Kaique Pacheco

After last night’s round number two PBR World Finals rookie Kaique Pacheco locked up the Rookie of the Year title but was still in the hunt for the World Championship title as well.  Even with J.B. Mauney extending his lead to just over 1500 points coming into tonight’s performance there was still time to see someone else take over the number one position if all things played out like they needed to.  Last night in the draft for round three Pacheco chose J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls’ Pound the Alarm which turned out to not to be the right choice for him and his quest for a run at the World Championship.  The two matched forces tonight and it went the bull’s way as the score came in at earning a buck off at a time of 5.05 seconds.

Silvano Alves After Winning Round 3

As I said earlier tonight is the pen of bucking bulls that the cowboys, as well as the fans, have been waiting for and the action inside the arena did not disappoint as there were more rides than the previous two nights as things finally turned in the cowboys favor on the dirt of the Thomas & Mack Center.  After all was said and done it was Silvano Alves who bested every other competitor in the third round while scoring 89 points atop of Hadley Cattle Company’s Rebel Yell!

Place J.B. Mauney Vs. Say Goodbye

Current world number one and fan favorite bull rider J.B. Mauney came into tonight’s round knowing exactly what he had to do and what could be at stake for him if everything fell into place correctly.  Affectionately enough the bull he chose at the draft last night was Dakota Rodeo’s Say Goodbye.  Coming into the third round Mauney was just over 1500 points ahead of any other competitor and the story line was quite simple to follow.

Including tonight’s round 3 there was 1600 total points still possible and that is what everyone was looking at as J.B. Mauney climbed aboard the last bull of the round.  If Mauney was able to cover his bull and place in the round in at least the top three he would have a chance at clinching his second World Championship title.  When the Mauney Vs. Say Goodbye match-up was all said and done it was J.B. Mauney who reined supreme.

Another scenario that was on J.B. Mauney’s mind is that he did not have to cover his bull to clinch as long as the two riders below him did not place in the round either even if they covered their bulls.  Kaique Pacheco paired up with Pound the Alarm from J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls only to earn nothing but a buck off time of 5.05 seconds.  The other contender that needed to fall off or not place was Joao Ricardo Vieira and he matched up with Julio Moreno’s bull Mr. Bull and managed to squeak out 86 points placing him out of the round points making a world championship being clinched tonight.

After all was said and done at the end of round three it was J.B. Mauney who came up just short of what he needed to clinch another World Championship title.  His score of 86.50 points which was less than one point away from what he needed and build anticipation going into tomorrow night’s fourth round which features the ABBI Classic bulls one again.  After tonight’s round, including the event average points, there are only 1400 points left to gain which makes it nearly impossible for anyone to catch the American with still three rounds of action to go for the week.
