Injury Update From Round One Of The 2015 PBR World Finals…..

Injury-Update

Night number one of the 2015 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series World Finals has come and gone but it was not without a devastating injury that everyone in attendance witnessed first hand.  It was not until after the performance that we found out how severe would end up becoming and wanted to wait to publish any information until we were able to confirm everything with the head of the Justin Sports Medicine Program, Dr. Tandy Freeman.  Late last night the official statement was released and the Rodeo Round Up would like to pass that on to you.

Young up and coming bull riding superstar Luis Blanco sustained a world finals ending injury last night after dismounting.  All those in attendance, and those at home, had the unfortunate task of watching Blanco’s ankle break after being stepped on.  We all knew it was not good as the bull rider motioned for help from the side of the arena and had to be transported out of the arena on a backboard.  Everyone was wanting to find out what the extent of the injuries were but we would not find out until later how bad things would be.

Dr. Tandy Freeman confirmed everyone’s worst fears regarding the extent of Blanco’s injuries and what that would mean for the rest of his 2015 PBR World Finals hopes and dreams.  Dr. Freeman sent out a medical condition update by simply saying, “Luis Blanco sustained a broken right ankle (bimalleolar) when he was stepped on after being thrown from his bull in the 1st round at the PBR Finals.  He is being transported to University Medical Hospital Trauma Center for surgery.  He is out of competition for 8-12 weeks.”

**  Condition Update**

As of today October 22nd at 5 P.M. local Las Vegas Time Jason has spoke to sources close to the situation and Luis Blanco had surgery and received one pin in his ankle.  He is still expected to be out 8 to 12 weeks.  Many of the Brazilian contestants spent the day at the hospital with him and report that he is in good spirits.
