Jason, Whiplash and Kenny Petet
A couple of years ago I had the unique opportunity to meet and sit down with Kenny Petet and his famous celebrity Whiplash The Cowboy Monkey. Not knowing that that chance meeting at the World’s Toughest Rodeo stop in St. Paul, Minnesota would turn into a long lasting friendship with a man that has his hands in many things around the rodeo industry. Kenny and I ran into each other just about a month ago while in Las Vegas for the 2015 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and had a chance to catch up once again.
Although Petet is best known around the circuits for bringing his little buddy around to appearances he has been up to much more and keeps busy when Whiplash needs a sanity break too. He was not out in Las Vegas to enjoy the action but had a very important job as well. He was in charge of running all of the ads, videos and live feeds at the top of the Thomas & Mack on the large video boards that was centered atop the arena floor.
Whiplash The Cowboy Monkey Saves The Day
It is well known that many rodeo fans, both adults and kids alike, hope to witness the antics of Whiplash The Cowboy Monkey at some point in time while attending one of their local rodeos. Petet knows how popular his little monkey is and wanted to make sure that Whiplash could be a part of everyone’s lives whether you get to see him perform or not. Knowing this he decided to write a book that talks about Whiplash’s life and journey to rodeo stardom to be able to share that story with all of their fans.
I had the honor of, once again, sitting down with Kenny Petet to talk about all the new Whiplash products that are now available for purchase on the website. We talked about the inspiration that he had to come up with the book, Whiplash The Cowboy Monkey Saves The Day, which he wrote himself. He talked about what it meant to him on a personal level to be able to share Whiplash’s journey with all of his fans across the world.
