Now that the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association season is in full swing everyone needs to watch the World Standings closely as there are many young guns that are working extremely hard to claim their spot at their first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in December. The timing of a documentary film about one certain aspect of rodeo could not come at a better time to thrust the sport of professional rodeo into the spotlight!
PRCA Bull Rider Kody DeShon
Bull rider Kody DeShon sure does know how to make a name for himself in his first year of hitting the rodeo trail full time on his quest to make it to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo this December in Las Vegas. Even though DeShon has had his PRCA card since 2010 this is the first year that he has decided to try making a living at it hitting the road full time. He made a statement this last weekend with a win at the Mineral Wells Rodeo taking home $3,324. With that win and the share of the win at the Jasper Lions Benefit Rodeo it skyrocketed him up to 16th place in the World Title race, once spot out of the top 15 needed to make it to the big show in December inside the Thomas & Mack Arena.
PRCA World Champion Saddle Bronc Rider Spencer Wright
Spencer Wright, the reigning World Champion saddle bronc rider, headed west this last week and made his way out to California for the Woodlake Lions Rodeo which he ended up taking home the win with a 83-point ride. Rosser Rodeo’s Clamper help gain Wright the win and set him up good going into the Mother Lode Round-Up in Sonora, CA where he tied for second place. Spencer remains comfortably in second place in the World Standings with another Wright boy, Rusty, right behind him claiming the third spot.
