This week, as the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association season heats up, is headlined by some of the very best in the business going down the road today.  Some of the “highlights” are of astounding stories of triumphant returns while, unfortunately, one is of devastation and tragedy.  As most know, our rodeo industry is a very close knit family and both good and bad news travel very fast so we can all come together to do what we need to do to help some of our very own.  This week that has happened to one true legend of the sport of professional rodeo.  On a better note though, a fan favorite and past World Champion made his return after shoulder surgery this past week and put everyone on notice that he is here to stay for the remainder of the season!

News came down the pipeline a few days ago that PRCA team roper and past World Champion was involved in a horrible traffic accident and nothing was known of his condition until a long while later in the day.  The good news is, at the time of this story, is that Skelton did wake up and the breathing tube and ventilator was removed.  His family updated everyone that he was sitting up and talking but was extremely weak and needed his rest.  As of this post it was just released that they were happy to tell everyone that he has been released from the hospital and is slowly but surely doing much better and will continue his recovery at home!  The entire Rodeo Round Up team give our thoughts and prayers to Skelton himself, has family and his friends.

World Champion steer wrestler and fan favorite cowboy Luke Branquinho returned to action this weekend after being out for 5 weeks due to shoulder surgery and made a huge statement letting all other competitors know he was here to stay.  In his first week back he competed in 5 rodeos and showed everyone he was close to being back in top form with three of his five runs clocked at 6 seconds or faster.  Five weeks ago he left sitting in the 7th spot in the world standings and has only dropped three spots to 10th as he came back strong this week!

The young gun, 23 year-old Dakota Eldridge, is having a year to remember after claiming his third big rodeo title of the 2015 season after winning the average at the Redding Rodeo which was a Wrangler Million Dollar Tour rodeo presented by Justin Boots.  He came into last weekend sitting in 13th spot in the world title race where only the top 15 make it to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.  That all changed once this weekend’s festivities were over, jumping 6 spots to claim the 7th spot in the Windham Weaponry World Standings.  This is a young man that is going to turn some heads the rest of the season and make a run at the World Championship if he can keep up this momentum heading into Cowboy Christmas.
