The World Title Race Tightens After Amazing Rumble In The Rockies Event

Last night was another round where we saw some of those within reach of a world title post up qualified rides and earn even more world title race points.  After regaining the number one position in the world Eduardo Aparecido, once again, covered his bull for the required eight seconds to earn a qualified ride sending him into today’s final rounds of action with 50 more championship points to his total.  Another one of those within reach is the young gun Derek Kolbaba who has been on fire over the last couple of weeks.  Last night he would continue his winning ways splitting the round win with Fabiano Vieira earning 80 more points in his quest for a world title!

As we look at tonight’s match-ups, the action down on the arena floor will leave the cowboys either kicking the dirt in frustration on raising their arms in excitement.  Either way, this pen of bovine athletes will give the Matador Jerkey Bull Fighters a run for their money and allow them to showcase the exact reason that these four professionals are at each and every Built Ford Tough Series event.  From the moment that the fans began to file into the Broadmoor World Arena, the energy level was pegged to the max as they all knew what was about to look them in the eyes in round two!

After a round less than 24-hours ago where we were able to see 11 qualified rides, the top 35 bull riders in the world looked to carry that momentum into the second round here this afternoon.  That being said, to follow that showing would be a tough task with the level of bull power ramping up as we all prepare to set the stage for the Championship Round.  The Rumble In The Rockies event in the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series is always a late-season game-changing event that can catapult those looking to reach the top 35 in perfect position to do so as we keep inching closer to the end of the season.

This afternoon, the top 35 bull riders in the world would pair up with some of the rankest bovine athletes that they have seen throughout the season making this round two one to strive for.  Everyone knew that if they could earn a qualified ride here this afternoon that they would pretty much guarantee themselves one of the fifteen spots available in the championship round.  Tonight 13 of those 35 would be able to do just that as Stormy Wing would take the round two win.  He would take home 100 world title race points along with an 88.75 point bull ride aboard Bob & Jeri Adams / D&H Cattle Company’s Udder Lover giving him all the confidence in the world heading into the Championship Round moments later!

After all was said and done and the scores were calculated and checked the top fifteen riders from the two qualifying rounds would be introduced as we all awaited the Rumble In The Rockies Championship Round.  As they all, one by one, climbed atop of the shark cage they would take the opportunity to pick their bucking bull match-ups as each of them considered what they would have to do to earn the event title here in Colorado Springs.  Once the pomp and circumstance were completed the arena was cleared and the bulls began to load in the chutes, setting the stage for the Championship Round inside of the Broadmoor World Arena!

Each of the bovine athletes that were awaiting their cowboy choices in the Championship Round would be contenders for their own world championship title at the end of the year and this afternoon we all saw the exact reason they are being considered for that distinction.  Fifteen riders would give it a go but only five of those would be able to manage to receive a qualified ride score here in the Championship Round.  That being said, no one could put forth the effort that Derek Kolbaba did aboard D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Company’s 2016 PBR Bucking Bull World Champion Sweet Pro’s Bruiser as he was able to ride him to the eight-second buzzer to earn 93 points and the Championship Round win.
