The Top Bull Riders In The World Begin Part Two Of The 2017 BFTS Season

After a long and much-anticipated return the top bull riders in the world returned to competition tonight in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  As the second part of the 2017 season begins for the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series everyone will notice a few changes in scenery as the march towards Las Vegas heats up.  Although the Built Ford Tough Series is on break for the summer that did not mean that these elite athletes sat on their couches wasting time, for some the break closed the door on any hopes of making it to the PBR World Finals while others are making their triumphant returns to the arena after healing up over the long summer break.

The excitement was in the air all around the BOK Center as the doors opened for the first event of the second half and it could be felt throughout the fans and contestants alike.  Tonight marked a home state reunion for bull rider Cody Rodeo Tyler as well as the in-arena returns of Tanner Bryne and Stetson Lawrence after sustaining injuries earlier on in the year.  That being said, one of the biggest names in the industry today will be out of action for the remainder of the 2017 season after sustaining a shoulder injury at the Calgary Stampede earlier on in the summer.  Two-time PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney will have to watch from the sidelines as his hopes of earning a third world title this year are now in the rear-view mirror.

Once the fans filed through the doors of the BOK Center here in Tulsa it was time, once again, for the top 35 bull riders in the world to take center stage and begin the final push towards Las Vegas and the PBR World Finals.  Each of these cowboys came into tonight’s round one performance fresh and full of energy after a long summer break that included some professional rodeo stops for them as well.  Tonight these refreshed cowboys paired up with some veteran as well as not so known bucking bulls which gave all of us something to be excited about.

Once the action began down on the arena floor we all had the feeling very quickly that this would be a night of qualified rides and memorable moments.  As the 35 bull riders that made their way to Tulsa climbed aboard their bovine counterparts it would be 13 of them that would be able to carry a qualified ride score into tomorrow night’s final performance.  That being said, one man stood taller than the rest as he began his second half of the season on a very positive note with a round one win.  Tonight that would be Jess Lockwood, who managed to put up a solid 87.50 point ride aboard NIP Ranch / Melton Bull Company’s Astro sending him into tomorrow night full of confidence and determination!

The second half of the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series season kicked off with a bang earlier tonight but those fans in attendance also were treated to a very special round as the first 15/15 Bucking Battle of the second half unfolded directly in front of them as well that left the fans inside of the BOK Center on the edge of their seats.  The match-ups for tonight’s battle were some of the most epic we have seen all season long with only one being a rematch that went the cowboy’s way the first time around.

In this elite round of fifteen the bovine athletes they faced were some of the very best in the business as well that would give these cowboys a welcome back they did not want to the Built Ford Tough Series tour.  Tonight there would only be six of those fifteen that would manage to make a qualified ride and earn those extra special world title race points and some extra money in their pockets.  With that said, no one could match the effort that Stormy Wing put up atop of 01 Cattle Company’s Wired Child for 89.50 points and the 15/15 Bucking Battle win here in Tulsa.

Tonight gave each and every fan exactly what they were hoping to see after a long summer break from watching their favorite bull riders and bucking bulls give it their all down on the arena floor.  After tonight’s action, it is apparent that many of these cowboys are coming back strong and full of energy while others are coming back groggy and full of rust.  Each of them have one more performance tomorrow night to shake off the cobwebs or take advantage of their round one performances as we head to Nashville, TN next weekend for the PBR’s major event, The Music City Knockout!
