The PBR Turns Up The Heat In OKC During Round 1 Of The BFTS Stop!

PBR OKC

The third stop of the 2016 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series season brought us to the great state of Oklahoma as the best bull riders in the world invaded Oklahoma City.  Tonight’s first round of action was nothing but electrifying as the non-stop action kept the fans inside of the Chesapeake Energy Arena on the edge of their seats.  Tonight marked the start of the seventh consecutive year that the Built Ford Tough Series has made a stop here and brought the overall total to an astounding sixteen years in total.

This year’s Express Employment Professionals Invitational includes three days of performances that will ultimately bring the top fifteen bull riders from the event together to compete head to head in the Championship Round to round out the action in Oklahoma City Sunday afternoon.  Last year’s event was won by a very intense Matt Triplett who, unfortunately will be out of this year’s competition due to injury, so a new champion will be crowned once the lights get brought down Sunday afternoon inside the Chesapeake Energy Arena!  With that being said Triplett let everyone know tonight that he will return to action in Arlington, Texas during the Iron Cowboy event!

The bull power and the caliber of the rodeo cowboys were on full display tonight as they paired up 35 times for matches that will be talked about for weeks to come.  At the end of the night it was the bovine athletes that proved to be dominant and outlasted their counterparts more often than not.  Once it was all said and done there were a total of 16 rides that lasted the required eight seconds but only one could be better than the rest.  Tonight that was Mike Lee who made all of the right moves to claim the victory in round one aboard 01 Cattle Co./D&H Cattle Co.’s Swamp Wreck for a solid 86.50 point score that makes him the man in the driver’s seat heading into tomorrow night’s round two!

There were a couple of key match-ups that the PBR fans were waiting on as the start of the performance came upon us here inside the Chesapeake Energy Arena.  Cooper Davis, winner of the 2015 PBR World Finals Event this past October, made his return to the arena after undergoing successful tendon reconstruction surgery in his riding hand this past November.  The other interesting match-up would be the one that Paulo Lima was about to partake in.  After being off of the BFTS tour Lima, who won this event 2011 made a statement last weekend by winning the New York Event and made everyone take notice coming into tonight’s round one performance.

Tonight’s performance included some of the top bucking bulls that are up and coming young bulls of the  ABBI, American Bucking Bulls Incorporated.  Along with these young bovine athletes fans that are watching the action on CBS Sports Network or are there watching the action live will be able to see some of the very best bucking bulls in the business today during the Championship Round on Sunday afternoon.  Fan favorite bucking bull Jared Allen’s Pro Rodeo Team’s Air Time will make his first appearance this year after loosing the World Championship bucking bull race on the last day of the PBR World Finals just a few short months ago!

After an exciting round one the action will kick off again tomorrow night as the second round will feature, once again, the top 35 bull riders in the world as they take on some of the rankest bucking bovine stock in the business today.  Our partner at AVID Visual Imagery Rodeo Photography will be live and will monitor anything that may arise and will provide live up-to-the-minute updates as things may come up.  Stay tuned to the Rodeo Round Up for all of your nightly event recaps and updates live from the  Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City courtesy of our friends from Run Ranger Run!
