After a very exciting round one just 24-hours ago it was time to carry the momentum the top 35 bull riders in the world had last night into the second round performance here on this beautiful Saturday night. As the action began on the arena floor the sold out crowd inside the Rimrock Auto Arena were ready to see another exciting round of action with a great possibility to witness history as Mike Lee would ride for his 500th career qualified ride. If he could cover his bull he would be only the second man in the history of the PBR to do just that along with Brazilian Guilherme Marchi!
The Stanley Performance In Action Presented By Cooper Tires is historically an event that has direct impacts on what the world standings race looks like in October as the PBR World Finals take place and this year is no different. Many new fresh and exciting faces have made their way onto the elite Built Ford Tough Series tour this year and continue to make themselves known riding brilliantly and putting the heat on those veterans that began to feel comfortable on tour.

As the doors opened and the lights began to shine bright on the arena floor on this Saturday night there was an undeniable energy that was in the air as the sold out capacity crowd began to file in. Once the lights went down and the pyrotechnics began it was time to ramp up the energy as hometown hero Flint Rassmussen and the rest of the Montana bull riders were announced and introduced over the sound system. That energy and excitement continued throughout the entire round as the question would be answered as to if Mike Lee would make history or not in round two.
After last night’s round one where 11 of the top 35 bull riders in the world managed to earn a qualified ride many questions remained as to how the round two performance would go. It was quickly looking like tonight would not go as planned as the bovine athletes of the PBR once again out shined the efforts put out by a majority of the competitors. That being said there was 10 that would be able to carry round two scores into Championship Sunday tomorrow afternoon. Along with that, all eyes were on Mike Lee’s ride to see if he could finally achieve the 500 career ride milestone that he has been working on. Tonight was in fact a night for history as Lee became only the 2nd man in PBR history to obtain that milestone along with Guilherme Marchi! Although the competition from the first two rounds here in Billings, Montana was to the caliber that we have not seen in recent weeks the bull riders on tour did not back down from the 110% effort and try that we love to see. The sold out crowd here in big sky country had much to cheer about as history moments, great rides and dramatic story lines continued to develop after tonight’s round that ended just moments ago. That being said, after all the cheering and hollering there was one that would end the second round of competition on top.
After all of the top 35 bull riders in the world finished their rides and headed out to the arena floor to sign autographs for the thousands of fans in attendance there would be 10 that would make it to the eight second buzzer this Saturday night to earn a qualified ride and head into Sunday’s performances with some much needed points on the board. Tonight it would be Kasey Hayes who would manage to earn the highest mark score of the night to take home the round two title aboard J.A.R.S Bucking Bulls / Gene Owen’s Buckle Up for a very respectable 89.50 point ride!

The sixth and final 15/15 Bucking Battle of the 2016 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series season prior to the organization’s summer break took place tonight following round two. For the first time this year the top 15 bull riders in the world were shut down as the bucking bulls reigned supreme. Shockingly there were no qualified rides obtained as the bovine athletes took center stage this time. Tonight D&H Cattle Company’s Sweet Pro’s Long John took home the highest bull score with a 46.50 point trip. There will be two other opportunities to see a 15/15 Bucking Battle after the summer break so it will be time for the cowboys to come back strong after getting healed up and recharged!
