Sacramento PBR Event Was Tough On The Cowboys To Say The Least!

PBR page picture

After last night’s round one of the 2016 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series Sacramento Invitational it was apparent that the top 35 bull riders in the world had met their match on the west coast.  Unfortunately for them, tonight was not much different as the bovine athletes reigned supreme once again.  Although the rides that were made this weekend were extremely exciting the fans had little to cheer about unless they are huge fans of the bucking bulls in the PBR.

As the lights went dim on the arena floor and the last PBR fan exited the arena there was a emotional moment for all of those involved in this event and for those involved in the building that hosted this event itself.  After 13 times, 12 straight, the Sleep Train Arena will call an end to hosting the Built Ford Tough Series as the building that has made many headlines, memories and records is set to be torn down and the PBR will be finding a new home once it makes a return to the Sacramento area.

After another round where the top bull riders in the world tried to get their heads wrapped around the amount of bovine athlete power that was brought to this weekend’s event, much like last weekend’s, the rides came very few and far in between.  After it was all said and done there were 12 of the top 35 bull riders in the world that managed to make a qualified ride.  Once all scores were calculated it was determined who the top 15 contestants in this weekend’s Sacramento Invitational were and who would move on to the championship round.

Even though there were the 12 qualified rides there was one man that needed to make a big move this weekend to remain on tour and that is exactly what happened.  Brazil’s own Wallace Vieira de Oliveira that managed to be the man on top of the second round leader board after making an 86.25 point ride aboard Julio Moreno Bucking Bull’s Woody.  This round win alone helped move him way up in the current world standings which puts some major pressure on those sitting atop the leader board!

After a fierce battle to even make the much elusive eight second buzzer this weekend in Sacramento, California the championship round was finalized and the last round of bucking bull action was set to begin for the last time inside of the Sleep Train Arena.  As the bull power increased the amount of rides decreased even more but there were a few that stood out as these qualified rides made each and every fan inside of the venue stand and cheer as loud as they could while the cowboys became overjoyed and celebrated on the arena floor.

Once it was all said and done it was the defending and reigning world champion J.B. Mauney who would fair better than the rest after achieving the highest marked ride of the Sacramento Invitational Championship Round.  Mauney and Bob & Jeri Adams/D&H Cattle Co/Buck Cattle Company ‘s Brutus joined forces to take the title of Championship Round Winner and earn some much needed season championship points.  Staying consistent is key to earning these points each week that propel you to the 2016 PBR Built Ford Tough Series World Finals in Las Vegas.

When the final buck out that will ever happen inside of the Sleep Train Arena happened there was one very happy cowboy that stood atop of the shark cage in the center of the arena.  Fabiano Vieira was awarded the championship points and the title of event champion which will be a special one for this superstar.  After a long weekend with top caliber bulls it was a hard fought and well deserved victory for Vieira.  You could tell what this victory meant to him while listening close to his interview while the confetti flew and the music blared for the last time inside of this legendary arena.

Now that the west coast slump is behind each and every one of these cowboys it is time to turn our attention back to the classic cowboy country of the Midwest.  Next week the fans will see some very exciting things happen as legendary bucking bull Asteroid makes his return to the arena.  This past world champion bucking bull will make his debut under new ownership of Chad Berger and the Dakota Rodeo name.  I know I am excited to see him back inside of a PBR Built Ford Tough arena just like you are.  The Rodeo Round Up Team will be providing round by round coverage live from St. Louis, Missouri!
