The Rodeo Round Up’s coverage of the 2017 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo started out with a bang throughout the day Thursday beginning bright and early, even before the start of round one at the Thomas & Mack. Our team was able to meet up with many members of the media while seeing what was all happening over at the South Point Hotel and Casino. We were able to have a nice lunch with our friends at the Arena Insider and spend some time with the gals from Behind The Alley.
So fart I can say that not being on a set schedule has had its advantages as we are able to spend more quality time getting to sit down with your favorite professional athletes to allow you all to get to know them a little better. That being said, we have nine more nights left here in Las Vegas and we would like to know who you would like to find out a little bit more about so please feel free to contact us on our social media platforms so we can cater our interviews to those that you would like to hear from over the next several days!
As all of us at the Rodeo Round Up are shifting our type of coverage for the year to a more laid back and casual approach we want to bring you different options that you have throughout town to watch and experience the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in real time. There are several options available to you and, this year, we will introduce you to a different watch party each night so that you can hear what all the excitement is about around town if you are not able to secure tickets of your own.
Tonight, we spent the evening with PRCA announcer Randy Taylor at the watch party inside of our own host hotel, the MGM Grand. Overall, it was a very fun and energetic time with tons of crowd participation and give-aways courtesy of Wrangler and the MGM Grand. You can watch for free every night of the WNFR as the big screen goes country inside of the David Copperfield Ballroom prior to the Rodney Carrington show over the next nine nights of action. The LIVE arena feed allows you to be a part of the action as if you were there in person watching at the Thomas & Mack!

The round one action that was displayed on the arena floor earlier tonight was non-other than spectacular with a majority of the contestants here this year Wrangler National Finals Rodeo rookies. After looking over all of the names competing this year we realized that no event had more than four returning competitors making this year’s contest one for the history books. If any of these newcomers had any jitters about being in Las Vegas it was hidden very well as each and every one of them competed as if they were veterans!
On man, although a WNFR veteran, was one of the main focal points of round one and it would be in the bull riding that the moment would happen. Not very often do we see a 90 point bull ride being made in round one but that is exactly what we were abler to witness earlier tonight! Trey Benton III would manage to post the first 90 point ride of the event to take home the round one win and the Montana Silversmith belt buckle that went along with it. In the barrel racing it would be WNFR rookie Nellie Miller that would win the first WNFR round of her professional career setting herself up nicely with confidence heading into round two tomorrow night!
