So far the 2017 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series World Finals has already produced numerous memorable moments as well as some history-making events inside of the T-Mobile Arena. Coming into tonight’s fourth round of competition there has been some distance put in between a few of the riders at the top of the world title standings since the young gun, Jess Lockwood, has completely dominated the first three rounds here in Las Vegas. We don’t know if it is the Subway sandwiches that he has been eating every day or if it is his entire family being out here watching him that has catapulted him to the top but whatever it is I can assure you he will not change a thing he is doing until the final round is completed here tomorrow afternoon. For the first time in the history of the PBR, Jess Lockwood has become the first man to ever come into a World Finals event and win the first three rounds of competition!
Now that we look ahead to tonight’s fourth round, we will begin to see the pens of bucking bulls come back to make a second appearance inside of the T-Mobile Arena here on the Las Vegas strip. Over the last three rounds, we have had pretty consistent numbers of qualified rides each night, 13 in round one, 10 in round two and 16 just 24 hours ago in round three. If history repeats itself we will once again bear witness to as many qualified rides here tonight as we look to follow the trend that has been set before us so far this weekend. The buzz and excitement around town is at al all-time high when you talk to the fans out on the Toshiba Plaza as they make some bold predictions as to how they think the outcome will look following tomorrow afternoon’s Championship Sunday rounds!

When the round four performance began things were expected to start off with a bang with a beautiful tribute featuring the PBR record label’s first signed artist, Ryan Weaver. If patriotism was not being shown in full force earlier on in the week it would be after what people witnessed on the arena floor to begin the round four action on a Saturday night! Once the opening acts and ceremonies were concluded it was time to be introduced, once again to the top 40 bull riders in the world as they walked across the shark cage to tip their hats to the crowd inside of the T-Mobile Arena. When the lights began to flicker back to full strength it signified that the round four performance was set to begin, the moment we have all been waiting for, wondering if the young phenom Jess Lockwood could continue history, winning his fourth consecutive round here at the 2017 PBR World Finals event!
As the race towards the top of the world standings leaderboard is at the forefront of most media coverage, the underlying things that are happening here this weekend are absolutely amazing to witness. We have seen a tremendous amount of try and determination here over the first three rounds and that did not drop off in round four tonight as the tradition continued of producing great rides for the loyal PBR fans to watch. Tonight, there would be another 15 qualified rides made while one man would leave the arena here tonight being crowned a round winner at the 2017 PBR World Finals event. The man taking home that title tonight would be Jose Vitor Leme after securing a solid 90.50 point ride aboard Ravenscroft/Vos/Nicolle Boyd/Toby Floyd’s Big Dutch to take home 300 points and walk out with the swagger that he has been hoping to find all weekend long!

All week long, there have been a couple huge things that are trying to develop that many fans may not realize is happening right underneath of them as they watch the 2017 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series World Finals here this week. One of those things we want to bring to the forefront has only been able to happen two other times before in the history of the PBR organization. Coming into tonight we were only one qualified ride away from witnessing, yet another, history-making moment as the 2017 season winds down and looks to leave us all with many lasting impressions to remember until we kick off the 2018 season this coming January in New York City! Would tonight be the night to see it happen? ….. we would all soon find out together as round four began.
This history-making moment that I am referring to includes one of the all-time fan favorite bull riders that hails from North Carolina and is introduced to the song we know as Bad To The Bone! J.B. Mauney could make history tonight by making a qualified ride, giving him 500 career qualified rides in the Built Ford Tough Series, which has only been done two other times. Both of these others are competing here this weekend as well, Mike Lee and Guilherme Marchi would wait to welcome him into the small family that would have this honor! Tonight, J.B. Mauney matched up with D&H Cattle Company’s Cartridge and it would not go his way while coming up just short of earning his career milestone’s 500th qualified BFTS ride after coming down early at 4.36 seconds.
