Tonight was all about honoring our neighbors to the north as we spotlighted all the Canadian athletes that are at the 57th Annual Wrangler National Finals Rodeo this year. This was a very touching moment as the entire rodeo industry took time to say thank you for making the sport what it is today for all of those from the great country of Canada. Once that concluded the one and only Charlie Daniels gave an electrifying musical performance on the arena floor to set the eighth round off with an absolute high! As we feature certain events each night we will start to post complete results at the bottom of the story so you all can see where everyone ended up each night!
Steven Peebles Takes Home The Rd 8 Win In The Bareback Riding
Tonight’s eighth round Rodeo Round Up Spotlight Event is the bareback riding that led off the performance and set the mood for the remainder of the night early on. In an event that only $33,000 separate the first and second place in the world standings each of the contestants pushed their bodies to the limit to try and inch closer to taking over the number one spot. Tonight it was Steven Peebles who managed to take home the in and the $26,000 that goes with it when he was able to cover Frontier Rodeo’s Full Baggage for a total of 89.5 points and move on up the leader board!
Once Peebles finished all of his Pro Rodeo television appearances our own Jason Hetland had a chance to sit down and talk with him a little bit about his run. While there are some other world title races that are closer that the bareback one that Peebles is in he knows what it takes to get things done and stay in contention for that World Championship. Find out what he has to say about the race as well as the commitments that are required of these rodeo athletes throughout their 10-day WNFR appearances in the video below!
