It was Friday night live as the 2015 Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo started its ninth round inside the Thomas & Mack Arena. The past eight rounds have been full of excitement, record breaking moments and major story lines. Tonight was not different as things have really started to heat up as the tenth and final round, where we will crown our new World Champions, will take place in less than 24-hours from now.
As the lights dimmed on the arena floor it was time to start the RAM truck sponsored performance with some very talented young ladies that set the stage for the rest of the performance. Recording artist country music icon Bonnie Bishop opened the show with a special musical performance. Next up was the winner of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo National Anthem contest, Sierra Black, who wowed the 17,000 fans with a stunning performance of our National Anthem. Once all the opening acts were done it was time to bring the cowboys and cowgirls into the arena for a tip of their hats to start the ninth performance of the 57th Annual Wrangler National Finals Rodeo!
Tonight’s Rodeo Round Up Spotlight Event is going to feature the big boys in the sport of steer wrestling. As these cowboys and steers get more used to the arena the times start to become shorter and shorter. Tonight it was Casey Martin who came out on top and tightened the World Championship race up just a little tighter as he laid down a solid 3.5 second run. Other times in the steer wrestling were: Tanner Milan (4.3), K.C. Jones (4.4), Dakota Eldridge (5.0), Trevor Knowles (3.6), Baylor Roche (4.2), Tyler Waguespack (4.5), Seth Brockman (5.1), Luke Branquinho (3.8), Ty Erickson (4.3), Nick Guy (4.7), Kyle Irwin (5.4), Hunter Cure (4.2), Clayton Haas (8.3) and Blake Knowles (13.7).
Jason was able to catch up with Casey immediately following his round nine win just before he headed south down the Las Vegas strip. Making his way to the South Point Hotel and Casino once again to receive his Montana Silversmith go-round buckle is something that he is every excited to do AGAIN!! See what he has to say about his win and what he plans to do following the completion of this year’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo tomorrow night in the video below!
Although the spotlight was on the steer wresting event there are six other rodeo events that are still in the tightest World Championship race to see who will take the top spot happening and tonight left questions that were still unanswered. In the bareback riding it was Kaycee Feild who managed a 82 point ride to claim the number one spot while in the team roping it was Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith, once again, who worked nicely to bring home a time of 4.0 seconds. In the classic event of saddle bronc riding it was Taos Muncy who led the pack with a 83 point ride and the quick hands of Hunter Herrin won the tie-down roping event with a 6.6 second run. The ladies of the barrel racing blazed a trail tonight but no one could beat Jana Bean as she sped around the clover leaf pattern to a tune of a 13.71 second time and in the bull riding it was Clayton Foltyn who covered his bull for a score of 88 points.
There has been some questions about this post being able to cover all of the results much like we do after each event is complete on our fan facebook page. We have decided to give that a try tonight so you can all make sure to get all the information and stats that you might need. So, with that being said, below you can see the seven event screen shots of complete round nine results directly from the 2015 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo!
