On Wednesday January 8, 2014 RFD-TV’s “Road to the American” show with Justin McKee dropped a bombshell announcement concerning a “little” competition between two of the World’s best tie down ropers Fred Whitfield and Joe Beaver.  Not only are these two Cinch sponsored superstars going head to head at the American semi finals but it was also announced tonight that Cinch is RFD-TV’s newest sponsor for the American.

There are so many sponsors coming on board for this first ever history making richest one day rodeo ever!  Along with Cinch RFD-TV’s CEO Randy Bernard also announced that Ariat, Polaris and Resistol also have pledged sponsorships to this huge show held March 2, 2014 in Arlington, TX at AT&T Stadium.  Along with the money that these sponsors are putting up, which totals $2 million dollars, Resistol will be giving each contestant that qualifies for the American a brand new 100x Resistol cowboy hat!

Now getting back to the announcement at hand, Fred Whitfield and Joe Beaver!  These two greats each have 8 World Championship titles a piece, have lived together in the past for a year and a half, are great friends out of the arena and are doing this only for the betterment of the sport of Professional Rodeo.  In the end there will be 16 not 15 qualifiers in the tie down roping competition at the RFD-TV’s The American.  You may be wondering how this will go down and we found out tonight with Justin McKee!

These two giants will come together for a two day head to head competition in Mesquite, TX.  The semi finals for The American will be held on February 22 and 23 and this is where fans of professional rodeo get to see something special happen one more time inside of an arena.  Fred and Joe will compete head to head each night running one run each and after two nights of action the world will be to see which one of these two greats will move ahead for the final exemption for the RFD-TV’s The American.  The total time from both nights put together will be the final straw as to who moves forward.  It does not matter which one will go to AT&T Stadium on March 2, 2014 all I can say is that the other 15 men running for money better be looking over their shoulders.  This will be a very special two night event and will be the last time anyone will ever be able to see these two legends compete against each other in an arena again.
