This weekend’s Stanley Performance In Action Presented By Cooper Tires Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series 2016 tour stop was literally one for the record books.  Along with the much anticipated history making round that everyone witnessed came some of the best bull riding rounds that we have seen thus far in 2016.  Over the first two rounds there were 21 qualified rids with 11 on Friday in round one and 10 Saturday in round two.  That being said, the question remained if that success would continue in the two rounds here on Championship Sunday.

The sold out crowds inside of the Rimrock Auto Arena showed exactly what the fans in Montana think of the PBR as it made its 21st straight stop in Flint Rassmussen’s home state.  This weekend saw Mike Lee obtain his 500th career ride and a 15/15 Bucking Battle that made history as well after the bovine athletes bucked off every rider they faced and left a blank on the cowboy side of the board last night.  Today’s Championship Sunday rounds were packed full of action and excitement as the past two nights have been as well.

This afternoon the top 35 bull riders in the world came with their guns blazing and ready to continue the success that they have seen in the previous two days.  Today the bovine power would be ramped up a few notches as round three began that featured some of the very best stock contractors and bucking bulls in the business today.  After seeing a good number of qualified rides in the first two rounds it was the bulls that took center stage this afternoon and gained the upper hand for the third round.

As the action began down on the arena floor inside of the Rimrock Auto Arena the fans in attendance were on the edge of their seats as the opening ceremonies began and did not sit back until the very last buck out of the afternoon.  In round three there were a total of 8 riders that would be able to stay atop of their match-up to earn a qualified score.  No one could put up the effort and points that hometown bull rider Jess Lockwood would have as he wins round three with a huge 89.50 point bull ride aboard Jeff Robinson / TNT Bucking Bulls’ Alligator Arms!

Once the three rounds of competition were concluded and the Championship Round was set the attention of everyone watching turned to the extreme match-ups that were about to take place.  Some of the bucking athletes with the highest marked bull scores of the 2016 Built Ford Tough Series season were set to give the top 15 cowboys of the weekend’s event here in Billings all that they could handle.  Once the action began it was a championship round that was filled with excitement and huge rides as we determined who would take home the event championship title!

When the cameras turned on and went live for CBS Sports Network the energy level inside of the arena rose to a whole new level as the championship round began.  Although the rides in this round were few and far between after a long three day event there were 4 of the top 15 bull riders that would be able to fair better than their competitors and earn a qualified ride on their way to and eventual event win.  That being said it was Jess Lockwood who would take home the round win aboard Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Ken Barnhard ‘s Modified Clyde with an 90.50 point score!
