Bull rider and aspiring country music star Jimmy Foster

This week Jason “TEX” Hetland and the Rodeo Round Up: Unplugged steps back from the well known rodeo and bull riding stars of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association and the Professional Bull Riders organizations.  Our focus this week on one of the unknown amateur starts of the sport, Jimmy Foster.  While attending a rodeo at the Circle C Rodeo Grounds in Alden, Iowa I had the pleasure of getting to know this cowboy on more a personal level.  With a bull riding division championship well within his grasp as the season ends he is the ultimate poster child for what it means to have a cowboy heart and to each time give everything he has got to make the elusive 8 second buzzer.

Coming up through the ranks and making it to the “professional” division has always been one of Jimmy Foster’s goals with the ultimate dream of riding under the bright lights of Las Vegas.  He doesn’t care whether it is with the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association or the Professional Bull Riders organization, he just has the dreams of becoming one of the best in the business.  This cowboy not only trains each week by riding practice bulls every Wednesday at the Circle C Rodeo Arena but by studying some of his bull riding idols.  He watches videos consistently and studies proper chute procedure and knows when the right time is to nod his Resistol cowboy hat for the most heart pounding 8 seconds of is life.  Being the best bull rider that he can be is not his only passion though as he entertains the bull riding fans after every event with his musical talents.

Along with being a very talented young bull rider he is also a very talented musician.  Jimmy Foster does not go anywhere as he travels up and down the road to different rodeos and bull ridings without his trusty ol’ guitar.  Most of the time you can find Foster sitting by his truck in his camping chair relaxing before a ride strumming his guitar and singing his old cowboy songs.  His talents have been requested so much from around the rodeo circuits that he has been thinking about producing a CD of his own with profits going towards a charity that supports cowboys and cowgirls in time of need.  Although he has not decided which charity to give the earnings to, it does not matter to his loyal fans that are waiting very impatiently for the release date to be announced.

With the CD release on the horizon, many fans have said that they do not want to wait that long to be able to listen to his music anytime that they want to.  After giving it some thought and talking it over with his very talented fiddle player he decided to contact a close friend of his.  This is where Cody Kinna comes into the picture as he gathered interest and started throwing ideas together for a youtube channel of his own.

If you like the song that I posted, make sure to let Jimmy Foster know you are a fan of his music by following the youtube channel that was made for this cowboy and musician here.  You can also follow him on facebook here to see when his bull riding career will come to a town near you for a chance to see him live yourselves singing good old cowboy songs.  Listen to our conversation below to learn more about what makes this cowboy tick.  We talk about his upbringing, bull riding career, personal life and his musical career.  When can we all expect to get our hands on a Jimmy Foster CD of our own?  The only way to find out is listen below to see what he has to say about it!
