Air Time In The Championship Round

Although the World Championship was clinched last night by fan favorite J.B. Mauney there was still a title to be won on Championship Sunday for the cowboys of the Professional Bull Riders.  This title is the elusive World Finals event title and coming into Sunday there were many of the contestants still within reach if those above them did not do their jobs and make their rides for a qualified score.  After all was said and done it was Cooper Davis who eventually claimed the title and the $250,000 that goes with it.  Davis was able to claim victory with one qualified ride today atop Moto Moto owned by Girletz Rodeo Stock for 85.75 points and bucked off Cantankerous LLC’s David’s Dream in the Championship round.

The other title that was not able to be nailed down until the end of the championship round today was that of the World Champion Bucking Bull title for the 2015 season.  After the first buck out round earlier in the week it was Jared Allen’s Homes For Wounded Warriors Air Time that took the lead heading into today’s final round bringing with him a whopping 47 point bull score.  Air Time and stock contractor Matt Scharping stunned as the low bull scores were read throughout the night laying victim to Air Time while only getting a bull score of 42.50 points.  It was D&H Cattle Company’s bull Sweet Pro’s Long John that finally claimed the title after posting a huge 47.25 point bull score.

Chad Berger & Clay Struve Accepting Award

Once again the Stock Contractor of the Year award was handed out atop the shark tank in the center of the arena and it was a duo that is quite used to the spotlight and the title that comes with it.  Clay Struve and Chad Berger, for the fifth time, received the coveted award and the huge payday that came with it.  It will be interesting to see who actually gets to take the buckle home since there are two gentlemen and only one buckle to split between them!

We were able to spend some time with Air Time yesterday while catching up with Matt Scharping and his team at the bull housing facility over at the South Point Hotel and Casino.  Take a listen for yourselves on what his thoughts were coming into today’s championship round which Air Time competed for the title of World Champion Bucking Bull.
