As the major part of the 2016 Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association’s season is set to begin there has been one particular man that stood above the rest this past week. Tie-down roper Cade Swor and his trusty horse Floyd Money began right where they left off just a few months ago after giving his partner a little time off. Along with his surge this week comes a rejuvenation of a long standing event in Las Vegas, The Helldorado Days Rodeo, coming up just two days from now as we look forward to this weekends festivities.

This past week this fantastic team joined forces to take the professional rodeo world by storm for the first time since late March. Cade Swor and his equine partner, 14 year-old Floyd Money, came into the Pioneer Days Rodeo in Guymon, Oklahoma with guns blazing as they looked ahead to the “Cowboy Christmas” run. That being said, it this last week was any indication of what we can expect I will put my money on these two to make a serious run at the 2016 PRCA World Championship.
These two last paired up on March 26th and after that run Swor made the decision to give his main horse some time off to get ready for the long summer season. These two kicked it off with a bang after winning the Pioneer Days Rodeo by winning round one with a 7.6 second run and taking home a second place finish in round two with an 8 second run. After everything was said and done it would be these two who would be crowned champions after putting up a 25.2 second combined time on three head. Swor talked about his horse and his win by saying, “I didn’t rope a practice calf; I didn’t do anything with Floyd Money. I just picked him up and went straight to Guymon. That horse is something else. He’s special, and it was really cool for me to win with him.”
This weekend will be a very exciting one for all of those involved in the western sports industry. One of the longest standing PRCA events will take place but this year it will have a much different feel as it will join along with the Professional Bull Riders to make this an event you will not want to miss. This event has been going strong since 1934 when the local Las Vegas Elks Club decided to put on a professional rodeo event and they have not looked back since. The Helldorado Days Rodeo is one that is on every cowboy’s and cowgirl’s bucket list to compete in!
This year the rodeo’s committee decided to join forces with the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series that brings the top 35 bull riders in the world to the arena floor in Las Vegas. The Last Cowboy Standing event will take place in the evenings following the rodeo performances and again at 3 P.M. local time on Sunday. Along with all of the rodeo and bull riding action there will be a tremendous amount of fanfare and opportunities for rodeo fans to meet their favorite athletes!
The Rodeo Round Up team will be bringing you daily updates as well as any breaking news that may come about from this weekend’s events in Las Vegas.
