2014 PBR World Champion Bucking Bull Contenders
While the world watched the 2014 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series World Finals to see who would win the World Championship there was another huge race that was being watched by millions. Eight bovine competitors came into Las Vegas vying for their chance to be named World Champion bucking bull for the 2014 season. Many great names were in the two night, two buck out clean slate that was set to ensure starting in the second round and finishing in the Championship Sunday sixth round of competition. Some of the notables included Asteroid, Jared Allen’s Air Time, Roy and many others but none were greater in 2014 than the legendary and retiring bucking bull Bushwacker.

When the PBR came rolling into town everyone involved with the world class organization was excited to witness the end of the legendary career of a bucking bull that has managed to change the sport of professional bull riding over the past many years and has brought a whole new meaning to the phrase “bull power” and his name is Bushwacker. Even with the Ring of Honor ceremony taking center stage some of the founding fathers that brought the Professional Bull Riders organization to where it is today even had to weigh in on what they were going to witness and give their predictions on how the World Champion Bucking Bull race would end up. All the hype came to a head for the first time of the 2014 PBR World Final in performance number two on Thursday night as all eight contenders for the World Champion Bucking Bull race faced off for the first of two times to set the stage going into Championship Sunday. After the first outs of these great bucking bulls many people were left to wonder if Bushwacker could achieve the impossible after posting only a 45.00 bull score leaving him far behind the leader after round two, Asteroid proving he was ready to give what it takes gaining a 46.50 bull score. Knowing that a one and a half deficit in scoring was a huge task and not totally agreeing with how the judges scored his bucking bull Bushwacker’s owner, Julio Moreno, talked with the Rodeo Round Up the day before Bushwacker bucked one last time to see if he could once again become World Champion. The excitement and the sadness could be felt inside the Thomas & Mack arena on Sunday afternoon the 26th of October as the 2014 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series World Finals was coming to an end. Not only were the World Finals ending but the legendary career of a well respected athlete was coming to an end as well with Bushwacker going for another World Championship and ultimately retiring after his final out in the championship round. All eyes were wet and fans as well as everyone involved in the association were on the edge as Bushwacker was loaded into the bucking chutes one last time with over a one and a half point difference to make up if he wanted to retire on the top of his game. The Rodeo Round Up was front and center to witness one of the greats and watch him gain yet another World Championship on his way out to happiness after retiring.
