Bulls Dominate Once Again In Springfield As The PBR Bull Riders Scratch Their Heads

Last night continued to leave the top 35 bull riders in the Built Ford Tough Series world standings beyond frustrated and trying to figure out what exactly is going wrong.  Each of these cowboys came into tonight’s second round of action looking to change the tone of the weekend with a huge night of five year old bucking bulls that currently sit outside of the top 35 in their own world standings.  Although the rides last night were few and far between there were some that would capitalize on the shortcomings of others to march up the world standings leader board and come into tonight’s round two action full of enthusiasm and the swagger to be crowned an event champion of the PFIWestern.com Invitational here in Springfield, Missouri following tomorrow afternoon’s final rounds!

Once again, the sold-out crowd in the JQH Arena crammed in to watch some of the best bull riders in the world battle it out with some of the rankest bovine athletes that travel the trail to date.  That being said, the bull power would not be any easier that it was just 24-hours ago but everyone was hoping the outcome at the end of tonight’s action would be far different from what it was with the ABBI Classic bulls.  Many of these cowboys come into tonight battered and bruised after being injured in round one but knew they had to ride to have any chance at making it to Las Vegas this November for the PBR World Finals.  Many alternate competitors are doing anything that they can do to claim on of the top 35 spots in the world standings, thus, keeping them on the elite Built Ford Tough Series tour.

Last night, history repeated itself as the shortcomings carried through from the event in Thackerville, Oklahoma where only fourteen riders managed to make qualified rides throughout the entire weekend.  In round one there would, once again, only be eight of the top 35 bull riders in the world that would manage to do that very same thing here in Springfield but those that did headed into tonight’s round two a full bull ahead of all others setting themselves up nicely for the championship round if they could do it tonight as well.  One of those men was the reigning and defending PBR World Champion, Cooper Davis, who would add 100 world title race points to his total moving him up to the number four spot in the world heading into tonight as the one to beat with his family by his side!

Once the action began it was quickly evident that tonight the fans watching at home and live inside of the arena would most likely see the same outcome that we have been accustomed to seeing over the past two weekends.  When things were all said and done the one standing atop of the shark cage claiming a round win would look much the same as well.  For the second straight night it would be Cooper Davis that would claim another 100 points and a round win.  Tonight’s wining 88.25 point ride aboard Halpain Bucking Bulls / Jerry and Aaron’s bull Roll The Dice would also make another move for this cowboy on a hot streak here in Springfield.  Tonight he would move up one more spot to the number four position with the looks of him being the one to beat.  Davis sits just over 1,100 points out of the number one spot as he sets his sights on a back-to-back world title!

Complete List Of Round Two Qualified Rides:

If the round two action was not enough action for you there was an entire other round waiting in the wings before we could call it a night here in Springfield.  Another special round that we all know and love called the 15/15 Bucking Battle was set to begin giving the top 15 riders in the world standings a shot at gaining some much-needed world title race points.  Every time we see one of these rounds it gives the winner an opportunity to earn extra points with the winner earning a nice 150 point total for his efforts.  After hitting a cold streak this would be the chance that these riders needed to get the train righted on the tracks and head into tomorrow afternoon’s final two rounds of action for the 2017 PFIWestern.com Invitational.  Once things began the electricity inside of the JQH Arena was at an all-time high as the fans waiting anxiously to see who would take home this year’s title!

Each and everyone of us know the danger that is associated with the sport of professional rodeo and tonight, we unfortunately witnessed one of those scary moments as Montana cowboy Jess Lockwood was knocked out and carried out of the arena on a stretcher.  We will continue to monitor the situation and bring you any updates as we receive them from our team that is on-site.  That being said, we all were left in awe as the “Hot Streak” Copper Davis continued his winning ways, once again in the 15/15 Bucking Battle.   If tow back-to-back round wins in the same weekend were not enough this Texas cowboy took home another 150 points and put those at the top of the world standings on notice as he makes his run at another PBR world championship title at the end of the 2017 season!

After tonight’s round two, and the entire weekend thus far, the top 35 bull riders in the world are left trying to figure out how to begin to right all of the wrongs that they have been dealing with as we look ahead to tomorrow afternoon’s third and final day here in Springfield.  We all hope that they can figure out what is happening and how to fix it very quickly before they loose all of the confidence that they had left coming into this weekend.  That being said, the Rodeo Round Up will once again have our team members and partners from Rokin’ K Photos on hand to bring you all the action through their camera lenses for all the followers of TheRodeoRoundUp.com!  We appreciate all the efforts they make to provide us with our top quality photos we use for our stories each and every week!
