pbr news

Tonight was on everyone’s minds including each and every contestant, bull fighter and employee of the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series.  The main reason was not that it was yet another highly anticipated 15/15 Bucking Battle as the top 15 bull riders in the world compete against the top bovine bucking stock in the business today but for a much larger purpose.  Even from the start of the second round of competition earlier in the evening the excitement and energy was amped up a notch as each person inside of the arena knew what was coming up later in the evening.

After the 2015 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series World Finals concluded in Las Vegas, Nevada we said goodbye to one of the greatest bucking bulls that has ever graced us with his presence inside of an arena, so we thought.  World Champion Bucking Bull Asteroid was set to be put out in pasture and given the retirement that he deserved after having a career that would make him a legend within the sport of professional bull riding.  Although he was retired many folks wondered if the timing was right as he was going out on the top of his game and in the peak of his career.

A couple of weeks ago a huge announcement was made that Dakota Rodeo and Chad Berger had acquired the legendary bucking bull and would return to action once again.  Tonight was the night that the fans wanted to witness as Asteroid paired up with Joao Ricardo Vieira in the St. Louis 15/15 Bucking Battle.  Once it was all said and done it was non other than Asteroid who would come out on top earning a buck off time of 2.90 seconds and a whopping 45.75 point bull score!

When all eyes were on the return of Asteroid there were still the cowboys that were competing for their share at the inflated championship points and prize money that was up for grabs inside of the Scottrade Arena Saturday night.  It was the top 15 bull riders in the PBR Built Ford Tough Series World Standings that would be matched up with some of the rankest bucking stock going up and down the road today.  Once the intense battles were over it was only a dreadful 2 of the 15 bull riders that would be able to make the buzzer.

Even though there were only 2 total rides there was one man that came out above the other and ended on top of the the board to earn a cool 150 championship points and a nice pocket full of money.  The reigning and defending PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney was the 11th bull rider out and became the man to beat after earning an astounding 90.25 point ride aboard J.A.R.S Bucking Bulls / Gene Owen / Big Big Stone Rodeo Company ‘s Sheep Creek.  After his first 15/15 Bucking Battle victory of his career, believe that or not, he was catapulted all the way up to the number two spot in the world standings!
