Another Record Setting PBR Sioux Falls Is In The Books

After two rounds of Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series action where we all saw the extreme highs and lowest of lows it is now Championship Sunday here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  In round one, the top 35 bull riders in the world had their hands full and could not find the right combination to unlock the key to making qualified rides as only six were able to do so on Friday night.  That performance left the cowboys full of anger and determination to not let that happen again.

Last night was a night that would change the weekend around for many of those cowboys stunned by the outcome of round one.  The sold-out crowd inside of the Denny Sandford Premier Center not only got to see a fantastic second round where 14 qualified rides would be made but another 15/15 Bucking Battle where Chase Outlaw would best Jess Lockwood, both receiving 90+ point rides.  All that set up a fantastic Championship Sunday afternoon performance that left the fans in Sioux Falls wanting more heading into next week’s action!

As the lights shined brightly down on the arena floor and the music began to rise the fans inside of the arena began to anxiously await the start of Sunday afternoon’s action earlier today.  Championship Sunday would begin with the third and final qualifying round that would determine who would be invited to the championship round immediately following its conclusion.  The match-ups in round three were pretty rider friendly which, on paper, should have allowed many of these top 35 bull riders a chance to put up a qualified ride on the board.

Once the action began the fireworks began quickly as the qualified rides and rider celebrations began early on which brought the fans to the edge of their seats for the remainder of the third round.  When things were all said and done there would be, once again, a dismal 6 qualified rides made here earlier on this Sunday afternoon that would set the field for the final championship round.  That being said, J.B. Mauney would be able to take home the round victory with a solid 89 point ride atop of D&H Cattle Company’s Mudshark to head to the Championship Round full of confidence!

Cooper Davis Clinches The Championship Round Win In Sioux Falls

After all three qualifying rounds were completed and the combined scores were calculated it was time to see who would advance to the championship round to determine who would be crowned the event champion for the Premier Bank First Bank Card Invitational here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Although the top fifteen riders from the event advance there would have to be some changes made due to injuries sustained here this weekend that would open up the doors for a few of those riders needing world championship points to stay on the BFTS tour.

When things were finalized and the fifteen riders competing in the championship round walked to the top of the shark cage to pick their bovine opponents it was time to see some fantastic match-ups to round out the weekend’s event.  Once the last bull bucked it would be an astounding 6 of the 15 riders that would manage to earn a qualified ride but those rides put up huge numbers on the leader board.  After everything was calculated it would be Cooper Davis who would earn the championship round win and the 100 world title points that went along with it here in Sioux Falls!

When the walking ramp was placed and the arena began to fill with media personnel the time was right to finally introduce everyone to this year’s event champion.  Earlier this afternoon the one and only Matt Triplett would be that man collecting the check, belt buckle and the much-needed world title points.  The excitement that he had while addressing the fans could be felt throughout the entire arena and the party did not stop there as the fans were already buzzing about the event next year and what they witnessed here this weekend!  See what Triplett had to say about this weekend’s event and what he sees in his future going forward in the 2017 Built Ford Tough Series season when Jason caught up with him down on the arena floor!
