A Lot Of Big Things Happening Regarding The PRCA Contestants This Week!!

There has been a lot of things happening this week regarding the contestants of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association.  With the rodeo season heating up and gearing up towards the busiest part of the season many races have been watched quite closely which could be some of the tightest races in recent memory.  This week we cover all the triumphs as well as all the happenings within the ranks of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association!

CHANDLER

PRCA Bull Rider Chandler Bownds

Sam Houston State University’s own Chandler Bownds, Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association bull rider, claimed the top spot at this year’s San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo after narrowly beating out defending World Champion bull rider Sage Kimzey.  The atmosphere inside the AT&T Center was electrified during the closest competition in years within the bull riding event.  Bownds managed to ride Andrews Rodeo’s Red Heat for 88 points while Kimzey managed a 90-point ride aboard D&H Cattle Company’s Savage, thus, winning the final go-round of competition.  Even though Kimzey managed a better better score in the round it was Bownds that had the better overall average score making him the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Championship and the coveted Championship buckle by a mere $123.00.  After winning the huge show and being named Champion Bownds said, “It feels amazing to have this buckle because this is one of the biggest rodeos in the world, and this is a buckle I always wished I would win.”

The Mid-Western part of the United States has been the center of attention as of late in the saddle bronc riding within the ranks of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association with one cowboy making himself known with is winning ways inside of the rodeo arena.  Boxholm, Iowa’s own Wade Sundell has had quite the luck these last couple of weeks and showing everyone how much he loves to win.  February 27th started off his winning ways after winning the San Angelo Rodeo and claiming a $8, 526 payday helping him go into the RFD-TV’s The American on a high note.  Going into that huge event after winning a short couple days before did wonders for this cowboy as he managed to win The American event for a second straight year claiming yet another $100.000 payday capping off his huge week of success!

Steer wrestling has been at the forefront so far this year when it comes to the Wrangler Champions Challenge presented by Justin Boots events.  Fan favorite Luke Branquinho has had tremendous success so far this year winning two of the events so far for the 2015 season.  He managed to win the Scottsdale, AZ stop on February 26th as well as the Rapid City, SD event held of February 4th.  These two wins have helped him have the distinction of being the only cowboy or cowgirl to win four Wrangler Champions Challenge events during their career.  His recent success is catapulting him to chase the dream of overcoming Homer Pettigrew’s record of six World Championships which is well within reach as Branquinho already has five career gold buckles to his name.
