Night 3 Goes the Other Way. Alves Regains No. 1 Spot

October 26, 2013 By Admin

PBR in Las Vegas
For this being the 20th Anniversary of the Professional Bull Riders World Finals, this is THE most dramatic PBR World Finals ever.  Everybody up’ed their game for Friday night.  From the opening 91.25 point ride by Stormy Wing (winning the round)  to the closing rides that again changed the leader board.  The Thomas & Mack Center was not quiet very much or for very long…

J.B. Mauney rode Excavation for 89 points and an ear shattering audience applause.  Only to sit back and watch two-time defending PBR World Champion Silvano Alves ride Showboat for 89.5 points and finished second in the round to regain his familiar position as the No. 1 ranked bull rider in the world.

But it is still either man’s game…  Alves has just a 19.75-point advantage.  The narrowest margin of any lead this season.

“This is the tightest race I’ve ever been in – even coming into the Finals – and it’s like two fighters trading blows,” said Mauney, who was clearly exhausted afterward. “It’s been a long time since my mouth’s been dry before I got on a bull and it’s happened every night since I’ve been here.

Silvano Alves will have the second pick in tonight’s bull draft for Saturday’s fourth round followed immediately by Mauney, who has the third pick by virtue of their Round 3 finishes.

Round 4 of the 2013 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at Thomas & Mack Center. It will air live on CBS SN at 9 p.m. ET.
