PRCA Saddle Bronc Rider Isaac Diaz

Dodge City, Kansas was very kind to PRCA saddle bronc rider Isaac Diaz this last week as he claimed victory and took home the event win at the Dodge City Roundup held July 29th-August 2nd this year.  After trying two times prior to take home the title which was not in his storybook Diaz came in with a mission and far exceeded his expectations and made history as well.  Much to his surprise he rode his second round horse, Frontier Rodeo’s Medicine Woman, for an arena record 93 points to take the round by a full six point margin.  That ride helped him take home the title after claiming the average on two head with a whopping 173 points.  Diaz talked about his win and record ride by saying, “I’m on Cloud 9.” He went on ti say, “This was my career best, too. I didn’t even know I was capable of going 93.”

Excited about the win at this event he said, “You hear about Dodge City when you’re a little kid and you dream of winning here. In a bronc rider’s mind, Cheyenne (Wyo.), here and Ellensburg are the best short rounds all year long because of the stock they have. Guys just know when they’re coming into the short round at those rodeos that they have a chance to go 90 because of the stock.”  After the Dodge City Roundup win he sits comfortably in the ninth spot in the Windham Weaponry High Performance World Standings.
