The PBR Returns To Little Rock As The BFTS Gets Underway

Now that the cowboys of the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series got the bugs worked out last weekend in Florida it is now time to look at this weekend’s event here in Little Rock.  The Verizon Arena has hosted the PBR for years as many touring pro events, as well as BlueDEF Velocity Tour events, have taken place but the elite Built Ford Tough Series is still fairly new.  This weekend will mark the second year, consecutively, that the PBR Built Ford Tough Series has come to town, and this year they strived to make things bigger and better for the loyal fans that fill the arena!

Round one here in Little Rock will look about the same as it did last weekend in Jacksonville when it comes to the bull pen that the top 35 bull riders in the world would face.  Some veteran bulls, along with their stock contractors, will be mixed with some bucking bulls and stock contractors that we have not seen yet this year in the 2017 season.  I would expect that we will see about the same amount of rides here this weekend as we did just seven days ago where 20 out of the 35 riders were able to make qualified rides.  All in all, it should be a very good weekend of bull riding action for the sold-out crowds inside of the Verizon Arena this weekend!

Many veteran faces on the Built Ford Tough Series Tour are being threatened with being bumped down as they hang of the verge of being one of the top 35 bull riders in the world.  Coming into this weekend’s Bad By Mowdown event Stetson Lawrence (33), Emilio Resende (34), and Stormy Wing (32) all have to have a great weekend as many up and coming superstars are hot on their tails.  Sonny Schafferius who currently sits in the number 36 spot is only 62.50 points behind Wing will be looking to gain some points and hoping the three ahead of him stumble giving him an opportunity to stay on tour for the foreseeable future.

Stormy Wing has been on a hot streak as of late after having a 2-for-3 performance last weekend in Jacksonville and would try to continue that streak here earlier tonight in Little Rock.  He was matched up with D&H Cattle Company’s Shocker, which gave us the first look at this bucking bull this season from his legendary owners.  In his debut, the bovine athlete was impressive and would bring Wing down early earning a solid 42.25 point bull score sending Wing into tomorrow night’s round two needing to ride to advance to the championship round.

Tonight, the intensity of the bull power and the heart of each and every bull rider was, once again, on full display as they matched up for an exciting round of bull riding action.  The main focus of the weekend is about those riders that are on the bottom of the standings and those that are running out of exemptions which will cut them from tour in the near future.  Those on the bubble were out to make sure that their spot in the elite Built Ford Tough Series would be safe following the next cut of the young 2017 season.

Once things were all said and done here on this fateful Friday night, those carrying over a score to tomorrow night’s round two were full of energy and excitement.  That being said, after an intense round one there would be only one man that would stand taller than the rest to take home the round one win earlier tonight.  Home state cowboy, Hamburg, Arkansas’ own Chase Outlaw, would be the man standing atop the shark cage taking home the round win with an 87.50 point ride he was able to muster up against Spring Creek Ranch / Burkhardt Cattle Company ‘s Lebanon Levi!

Tonight’s first round of action inside of the Verizon Arena was plenty to create an overwhelming buzz among those fans watching in attendance as we look forward to round two tomorrow night!  After __ qualified rides earlier tonight, the championship round that is set to take place tomorrow will be one that you will not want to miss.  Our friends and partners at Rokin’ R Photos will be in attendance to bring you all of the photographs from an exciting Saturday Night Live performance live from Little Rock, Arkansas!
