Just about a week ago an exciting announcement came through our offices here at the Rodeo Round Up and we have finally found out more regarding this and wanted to share it with all of you!  San Antonio will play host to an interesting “Gold Buckle Round” style tournament that will bring some of your favorite rodeo legends out of retirement.  These past champions will compete against each other for their shot at an American qualifier slot as well as the one million dollar cash prize at AT&T Cowboy Stadium!

When the action starts inside of the Rose Palace on February 10th the fans in attendance will be able to witness rodeo stars that combined hold 54 World Championship titles compete head to head.  There will be four of the standard rodeo events that will have competitions from some of the best in the world.  Tie-down roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and team roping will take center stage to see who will gain the much sought after qualifications to the RFD-TV’s The American February 28th.

Fred Whitfield And Cody Ohl Will Go Head To Head Feb. 10th

Two of the best tie-down ropers in the history of professional rodeo carry a combined staggering 14 world titles and will go head to head on February 10th for their chance to participate in the American two weeks later.  Fred Whitfield and Cody Ohl will have a competition that will feature runs that include different score lengths and different-sized calves to make things fair to the both of them.  Once the runs have been laid down and the times totaled up we will find out which one of these legends will earn a spot to compete at AT&T Cowboy Stadium for one million dollars!

As I said earlier there are three other events that are being contested during this exciting event and do not lack the star power that is to be expected.  In the steer wrestling Rope Myers, who has won over $1.2 million dollars and claimed a world title in 2001 will compete against 2-time world champion Lee Graves in a head-to-head match-up.  In the cowgirls barrel racing it will be the match-up of two ladies that have each won two world title a piece and will bring both of these beautiful ladies out of retirement for one more chance at a huge payday.  Both Lindsay Sears and Kelly Kaminski will face off in what is to be an interesting competition.  Both ladies will run two separate runs on two completely different horses.
