Bull Riders Top This Week’s PRCA Weekly Headlines

This week the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association has seen some tremendous things happening across the country that surely will shake up the world standings leader boards as performances continue to happen from coast to coast.  There are many rodeo athletes pushing towards their goal of making it to Las Vegas this December to be a part of the 2017 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo as one of the top 15 contestants in their respective events.  As the season begins to wind down, each and every ride and run needs to be the best as the quest for championship money continues to push west towards the end result in Vegas!

As the last major push begins there are numerous athletes that are making the most of the chances that are left and that are making great strides towards the end-season goal of the WNFR.  Some of these athletes are well-seasoned veterans that pick and choose which events they go to to earn enough to make the WNFR while others are virtual newcomers or those that put their heart and soul into it and travel thousands of miles in pursuit of their dreams of making it to Las Vegas.

One of those contestants that is making a major push towards his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas is 20 year-old Tristan Mize.  While having a fantastic season so far he has his sights set on making a dream come true while heading to Vegas this December and is making a huge push towards that goal late in the season.  Talking about the WNFR and his chances he said, “I’m ready to be at the NFR at the end of the year, that’s for sure. I’ve always dreamed about going to the NFR. It’s all I ever think about. I want it so bad.”

This past week he made that dream a little closer to reality setting in with a huge win in Caldwell, Idaho with a 90.50 point bull ride in the final round.  He managed that score on a great bucking bull from Powder River named Savage Mood which skyrocketed up up the world standings leader board.  After his huge win he moved all the way up to 21st in the WEATHERGUARD World Standings making his push towards the top 15 in the world just a little closer.  I have a feeling that we will see this talented bull rider in Las Vegas come December!

Another huge move happened this week with Professional Bull Rider Canada and Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association’s bull rider Jordan Hansen moving to the number one position in the world standings.  This past week, on August 19th, he made a monster ride aboard Kesler Rodeo’s Excessive Force to earn a 92 point ride and the event title in Kalispell, Montana at the Northwest Montana Fair and Rodeo.  This huge win and the world title lead can give this cowboy the confidence that he needs heading into the final stretch as the 2017 Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association’s season begins to wind down.

Although winning $2,558 for his event win there was much more to talk about at this great event earlier last week as well.  Excessive Force was also able to give Zane Lambert a 90 point ride as well in Canada earlier this month making him the only bull to post up two 90+ point rides this season!  Tanner Girletz was second at Kalispell with a 90-point ride who gave Hansen a run for his money.  All in all, the action happening from coast to coast will be hot and heavy as the final push to the end of the 2017 season is upon us.
