As the final regular season event is set to begin in just over 24-hours the race for the 2016 Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series World Finals week is in full swing.  Many story lines have been unfolding over the last several weeks as the world title race is the closest it has ever been and the clump of talented bull riders on the bubble is mind blowing to say the least.  After the final bull bucks Sunday afternoon the stage will be all but set as the roster begins to take shape as to who will compete next weekend in Las Vegas.

Although the majority of those contestants that will be taking part in the World Finals will know whether they are in or out after the Tuscon event there will still be a few precious spots still available right up until the last few days leading up to the main event.  For the first time in the history of the Professional Bull Riders organization the BlueDEF Velocity Tour Finals will take place the weekend prior at the South Point Arena.  That is where today’s announcements begin to focus on!

This year will bring something much more exciting for the fans in Las Vegas for the BlueDEF Velocity Tour Finals than they have ever seen before.  Much like what happens at the RFD-TV’s The American, the executive competitions committee has exercised their right to make this year’s event even better.  Along with those contestants that have qualified for the tour finals will be some major names in the sport of professional bull riding that have been staples to the industry in other organizations.

After hearing the news today the Rodeo Round Up team is very excited to be heading down to Las Vegas to cover both events at the South Point Hotel and Casino as well as the new T-Mobile Arena located right in the heart of the city on the famous Las Vegas Strip.  We will talk in depth about the exciting news that was just released but before we do I want to say that if you are still trying to decide if you should make the trip or not I would do so before rooms sell out and flights get more expensive as this is one week that you will not want to miss!

Sage Kimzey

PRCA World Champion Sage Kimzey

One of the important pieces of news that came out today was that a special invitation was extended to the current and defending Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association’s World Champion Sage Kimzey.  It was announced today that he did in fact accept that invitation and will compete at the BlueDEF Velocity Tour Finals to try and earn a spot to compete at his first ever PBR World Finals.  As the current two-time bull riding world champion who is all but guaranteed to take home his third straight this December he will be one to watch to see if history can be made in Sin City just a short seven days from now!

Along with Kimzey many other injury invitations have been given and accepted over the last few days.  One of those is one of the fan favorites Matt Triplett who is currently sitting outside the top 50 but heading into this weekend but will now officially compete at the 2016 PBR World Finals.  If that is not enough to get anyone excited another PRCA World Champion, J.W. Harris, as well as Brazilian sensation Alex Cardozo have both accepted a chance to compete at another World Finals.  All the excitement is quickly leading to chaos as we all look forward to travelling to Las Vegas to cover all of the great action that is set for one week from today!

keep in touch

Like I said earlier, if you were still in the fence about making the trip out west next week for the PBR World Finals Week festivities I hope that you are making a fast adjustment and planning your trip of a lifetime.  After these announcements earlier today and the opportunity to see the best bull riding action in the world inside of the new T-Mobile Arena along with some legendary musical talent big things are coming.  I have a feeling as this week rolls along many more exciting announcements will be made as well!
